This course is designed as an introduction to regenerative development and tourism. In this course you will learn the difference between a regenerative approach and sustainability, and what is involved in implementing a regenerative journey in your organisation, community, business or place. This introductory course is delivered by experienced regenerative development practitioners Dr Dianne Dredge and Nadine Schmidt. We bring extensive experience working in regenerative development, community building, for-purpose business and ecosystem design, policy and education.

This course is designed for all those with an interest in regenerative place making, redesigning tourism, community leaders, business owners and operators, and policymakers. Let's prepare for the change ahead.

ABOUT THE COURSE

A 6-week online cohort course that introduces regenerative tourism to tourism professionals, destination managers, researchers, businesses, and other industry stakeholders. This introductory course that everyone needs to understand the shift and start the journey.

OBJECTIVES

  • Sharpen understanding of key terms and concepts in regenerative development and tourism

  • Understand what is involved in shifting mindsets, and the skills, literacies and knowledge required.

  • Develop an appreciation of regenerative development at a systems level and what are the implications for tourism.

  • Develop concrete understanding of the steps involved in designing a regenerative tourism journey

  • Welcome, introductions and Q&A

  • The what, why, where and how of regenerative development and tourism: Beyond sustainability

  • Understanding net positive impact and pillars of practice

  • Designing a regenerative journey: Your Regenerative development goals

  • Community-led, place-based, and purpose-led: A systems approach to resilient places, people and nature

  • Regenerative economies, business models and financing the regenerative shift

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • An introduction to regenerative travel and tourism.

  • An appreciation for the difference between sustainable and regenerative tourism and other concepts.

  • Connection with a community of likeminded and curious people seeking to understand regeneration and how it is applied.

  • Examples, case studies and practice points.

  • Recordings of the live sessions accessed via the Tourism CoLab community platform (12 months).

Q. When does the course start and finish?

 

The course will open one week prior to the start date when you will receive an invitation to join the Colab's Communiversity custom course space for this course. Content will be released weekly ahead of the live sessions.

 

Q. How is the course run?

 

Our Community of Practice is the platform where you will find recordings of the live sessions in case you miss them. It is where you will connect with your community of learners, so make sure you introduce yourself.

 

Q. Are there any live webinars?

 

Yes. There are four live sessions, one per week for four weeks. The course can be completed asynchronously by viewing the live sessions in your own time and using the Community of practice to ask questions.

 

Q. How long do I have access to the course?

 

After enrolling, you have access to this course for 3 months. You can opt in the membership of the Communiversity for 12 months or upgrade your membership when you have completed the course.

 

Q. What if I am unhappy with the course?

 

We would never want you to be unhappy! If you are unsatisfied with your purchase, contact us in the first 7 days and we will give you a full refund.

 

Q. Will the course be offered at a later date?
